On 1st July 2020 we made sweeping changes to our system. These new additions will ease your workload and make the distribution process much smoother.

PODCAST HOSTING

  • Custom Posting – You are now able to post podcast episodes anytime you want without any frequency restrictions. (This doesn’t apply to those who use our syndication service too.)

To upload an episode to our system, simply select Publishing Date. You can schedule one episode per day. Publishing Date is when the episode appears in your RSS Feed URL. Podcast directories read the RSS Feed URL and display its content on their platforms. Every platform reads the RSS Feed URL at different times of the day. Some of them every 5 minutes, some of them only once a day and others even less frequently. So any changes you make (posting new episodes, setting changes, etc.) will be displayed on them after they have updated their sites from the RSS Feed URL we provide.

  • Extended List of Podcasting Platforms – We have added new platforms so you will be able to submit your podcast to 17 different podcast directories / platforms.

If you want to be on any of these platforms / directories, visit https://syndicast.co.uk/podcast-submission and follow the instructions.
You can submit your podcast to the following podcast directories:
-Apple Podcasts
-Spotify (they do not accept music podcasts)
-Google Podcasts
-Stitcher
-Deezer
-Pocket Casts
-Castro
-TuneIn / Alexa
-Podcast Addict
-Overcast
-Podchaser
-Listen Notes
-Castbox
-Acast
-Radio Public
-iHeart Radio
-Pandora

Plus Soundcloud and Mixcloud, where you can schedule the uploading.

  • New Pricing Strategy and Payments – Optimized payment process and checkout page

We have made the payment page more user friendly. As you can see, we have 3 different plans now.

Here you can see our new pricing strategy, feature list and so on: https://syndicast.co.uk/podcast-hosting#prices

The new pricing strategy is suitable for all types of podcasts. Rather than charging by the number of platforms used, the new pricing is based on the number of plays and downloads, and the length of the content you upload. Please note, if you post the same amount of content as you currently do, you won’t notice any difference in charges with these new metrics. You may even get the same service at a lower price.

Because of this, you should go through our new Podcast Hosting Plan https://syndicast.co.uk/podcast-hosting#prices) and, before you make the next payment, please make sure you choose the correct plan. If you reach the limit of your package, restrictions will appear.

  • User Interface Updated and Episode Editing The user interface for your podcast has been redesigned. Also, you will be able to edit your previously published episodes.

The new surface is simpler and contains only essential information about your podcast such as its name, host and, most importantly, the RSS Feed URL that you need in order to submit your podcast to the podcast directories.

If you would like to change the settings of your podcast, click on SETTINGS in the bottom right corner of your podcast profile and then you will be able to change any details regarding your podcast.

  1. SHOW SETTINGS

All data, such as artwork, basic data, RSS feed settings, description and so on, can be seen and edited here.

  1. EPISODES

From now on you can edit your previously published episodes. Also, you can delete any unpublished episodes.

Please note that it could take up to 48 hours for any changes you make to appear in all the podcast directories.

  1. STATISTICS

You can access the statistics of your podcast through this page. The statistics are still in the BETA version, which we are working on, so new updates about the section will be released continuously.

  • Easy Episode Uploading – Optimized and simplified episode uploading

There are fewer fields in the episode uploading window.

We have introduced the Episode Title field. You should think about your podcast episode title like the headline of an article. It’s the thing that makes people click, so you need to pack as much information as possible into a small number of words.

The full title of your podcast episode is composed of 3 different parts:

the name of the show (e.g. Syndicast Sessions), the episode number (e.g. 001) and the episode title (e.g. Interview with John White). For example, Syndicast Sessions 001 | Interview with John White

When you are uploading an episode, you can enter the episode number as well as the episode title.

We have also removed the Tracklist tab and you only have the Description, where you can describe the episode to your listeners. This is not mandatory so you have the option of leaving it blank, but we recommend that you enter at least a short description or add important links.

The uploading works differently now. If you have uploaded the episode successfully, you should see this message:

  • Episode Artwork – We have changed the episode artwork size to meet Apple standards, to a minimum size of 1400 x 1400 pixels and a maximum size of 3000 x 3000 pixels, 72 dpi, in JPEG or PNG format with appropriate file extensions (.jpg, .png), and in the RGB colour space.
  • Podcast Categories and Apple Podcasts Optimization – Podcast categorization as well as using the correct size for general artwork will help optimize the search results on Apple Podcasts or even make the podcast eligible for featured placement.

Apple Podcasts (formerly iTunes) is the largest and most important podcast directory. Getting your podcast listed on Apple Podcasts brings your podcast before the millions of people who use Apple Podcasts and many other popular podcast apps.

It’s important to optimize how your podcast appears in Apple Podcasts, and one aspect of this is the podcast category you select for your podcast. So please make sure you select (or update to) the most suitable category for your podcast.

Apple Podcasts finds these categories in your RSS feed. You can update your category in SHOW SETTINGS > RSS FEED SETTINGS > Category.

The other aspect of how Apple Podcasts displays your podcast is the general artwork. To be eligible for featured placement in iTunes / Apple Podcasts, an artwork must be 3000 x 3000 px with the quality specifications of 72 dpi, in JPEG or PNG format with appropriate file extensions (.jpg, .png), and in the RGB colour space.

RADIO SYNDICATION

  • User Interface Updated and Episode Editing The user interface for your Radio Show has been redesigned. Also, you will be able to edit your previously published episodes and delete any unpublished episodes.

If you would like to change the settings of your radio show, click on SETTINGS and then you will be able to change any details on the “MyRadioShowSettings” page.

  1. SHOW SETTINGS

All data, such as artwork, basic data, RSS feed settings, description, press pack and so on, can be found and edited here.

      2-3. EPISODES

From now on you can edit your previously published episodes, for instance change the mp3 or metadata. Also, you can delete any unpublished episodes.

Please note that, if you make any changes after the delivery date, some of the radios might already have aired your show by then.

  1. STATISTICS

You can access the statistics of your radio show through this page. We combine the Radio and Podcast statistics for those who use our Podcast Hosting service as well. The podcast statistics are still in the BETA version, which we are working on, so new updates about the section will be released continuously.

  • Episode Artwork – We have changed the episode artwork size to meet international standards, to a minimum size of 1400 x 1400 pixels and a maximum size of 3000 x 3000 pixels, 72 dpi, in JPEG or PNG format with appropriate file extensions (.jpg, .png), and in the RGB colour space.
  • Optimized Episode Uploading – Optimized and simplified episode uploading.

The uploading window has been refurbished functionally as well as in terms of design. We have also renamed the Publishing Date field as it really is the Delivery Date when our system transfers the episode to the radio stations.

The uploading works differently now. If you have uploaded the episode successfully, you should see this message in the window:

  • Payments – Optimized payment process and checkout page

We have made the payment page more user friendly. Also, if you use Podcast Hosting besides Radio Syndication, you can see that now we have 3 different plans.
